Information for Authors

In preparation of your presentation/poster for LightMAT 2019, we would like to ask all authors to consider the following points:

Lectures

  • Prepare your presentation as a PowerPoint presentation (image format 16:9). There is no predefined template, you are free in the design of your presentation.

  • Please bring your presentation with you to LightMAT on a USB stick, even if you have uploaded it to the document library in advance! Please come to your lecture room during the break before your lecture and hand over the USB stick with your presentation to the technical assistant in the lecture room. The assistant will load your presentation onto the existing presentation computer so that a quick speaker change between presentations is possible. Please name the presentation with your name and contribution number to avoid confusion.

  • It is also possible to bring your own notebook and connect it for your presentation. The usual HDMI and VGA connections are available in each of the presentation rooms. If you want to use a Mac, we would like to ask you to bring an appropriate adapter to one of the connections (HDMI / VGA).

  • You can integrate videos into your presentation. Please note, however, that due to the different presentation rooms and conditions on site, we cannot guarantee that the presentation computers will be connected to a separate sound system.

  • The official conference language is English. Please give your presentation in English as well as prepare your slides in English.

  • Please note that the lecture time is 20 minutes including 2-3 minutes for questions from the audience. The session chairs are required to ensure that the lecture time is respected. Please refer to the online program for the exact time of your presentation.

Poster

  • Please bring your printed poster with you to LightMAT, even if you have uploaded it in advance in the document library!

  • Poster contributions should preferably be exhibited during the entire conference (Tuesday to Thursday). If you will not be attending LightMAT until Wednesday or Thursday and cannot post your poster until then, please let us know in advance.

  • We recommend the poster size DIN A0 portrait format.

  • A poster board is available for the poster you will bring with you, which will be sorted according to the topics and labelled with your contribution number.

  • To mount your poster on the poster wall, we will provide you with mounting material on site.

  • An Extended Coffee Break with Poster exhibition will take place on Wednesday from 15:40 to 16:40, where your poster should hang on the poster wall provided for this purpose. As part of this coffee break, we would like to ask you to stand next to your poster so that interested participants can ask you questions about your poster. Your poster will also be evaluated by a panel of experts during the Poster Exhibition. The award ceremony for the best poster will take place as part of the Closing Remarks on Thursday afternoon.
